Loppers and hedge trimmers. The loppers got a lot of use; the hedge trimmers, not so much

We start to work right at the trail head

It's been some time since the brush has been cut back on this trail, and it shows!

Only a couple of dozen feet in, the trail splits. We'll block off the upper one (on the right) and open up the one of the left to make it more obvious.

Just as we start to work, a rider comes down the trail we are about to block off

This is what the trail looked like at the end of the day, piled high with brush cuttings to block it off. The other end looked the same.

This section a couple hundred feet from the bottom is really bad. The trail is to the right but people go to the left to avoid the rut. It's very steep, loose and slippery.

The plan is to break down the berm on the outside (right side in this photo) and fill in the rut. This will make the trail flat and allow the water to run off the outside, rather than straight down the trail.

We build a drainage to keep the water from running down onto the trail below
