Sunset is fast approaching in Agoura!
Steve, relaxed hiker that he is, got a headstart and sees the others beginning the climb far below
Graham is hiking with the larger group and has a different view
Graham looks behind...
...and Graham looks ahead...
...and Graham looks further ahead!
The hikers approach the first real level area
Time for a break, because there's lot more climbing ahead!
Wendy takes a picture so that Graham can be in one
Off and up!
Wendy wants to know if that is part of the hike. Charlette answers that it's the "Heartbreak" section of the hill. And I thought the first section was enough of a heartbreak for one hike!
Charles is cheerful, for now
The trail is steep, loose and a little rocky
Steve gets to the top first and takes a picture of the sunset
Climbing the heartbreak segment
Now they're at the top, time to stretch
Miyuki is jubilant - she made it!
Ron is a little more blase about it
Meanwhile, Steve and Fred have made it to the true top and wonder what the rest are doing lollygagging down there (center right). It looks like the trail goes quite far south, but we're heading north
Steve and Fred wonder if there's a problem, so they start back to find the rest are just standing around
Graham proves that the reach of his lens is further than his flash!
Graham gets to the top and takes a sunset picture
Off we go again!
There's a geocache hiding around here somewhere...
...oh THERE it is!
The downhill trail is so steep that some people slide down on their butts
A true ridgeline trail
It's almost time to break out the lights
Fred points to where the seagull dropped on him?
Everyone's favorite freeway, the 101 just past sunset
Much later, celebrating a great hike with wine and cheese at Susan's!
Susan and Steve swap places
